Who am I?

From 1970 to 71 I was an abortion counselor at Pregnancy Counseling Service in Boston, MA. Today I am writing a book on abortion from the 60s to today. I was inspired to write the book by an article in the New Yorker on the work of Njoku sisters at ARC Southeast in Atlanta. Reading the New Yorker article, I was struck by the fact that these two women were doing some of the same work I did fifty years ago. Namely, help women find the money to afford an abortion and get to a legal clinic. It was agonizing then, and their job is much harder now that there are many more barriers to abortion care.

I am also a member of the Bad Old Days Posse. We are affiliated with Reproductive Equity Now (formerly NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts). For the past two years, we have been appearing on college campuses to tell our stories of illegal abortion before Roe. This past fall we spoke at Clark University, Williams College, UMass Boston, Northeastern University, and Suffolk University.
